When in Rome Do As The Romans.......right? Well, When in Portugal, Eat as the Portuguese. And that means eat FISH FISH FISH. I was told by a few Portuguese friends that I must try grilled sardines when there. I like fish, I like to try local cuisine so when we found an outdoor restaurant in the town of Faro in the Algarve where they were grilling sardines on a big grill made out of barrels, we were in!
Never mind the look on my face, look at my plate! I did a pretty good job on them.
Poor little fishy.
Here's Pam finishing up leftovers!

Looks like you were having a pretty good time. I did notice that your wine glass was empty. LOL!
M, notice the carafe is empty....I didn't do it alone! The wine in Portugal was good, surprise surprise!
BTW when I post things like this and I know you're going to see them, I feel a tiny bit guilty.
I think I'd have to have LOTS of Portugal wine before I'd eat that much fish. Gallons of it.
You brave.
Not so brave, Bayou Girl, eating the sardines for me was a lot like eating crawfish or crabs....you never really get full. More work than food.
how fun! but eewww!!
That looks like a fun day! I'll try local stuff, too - but I would've definitely been glad the wine was good...
Hmmm, I've always liked sardines, but the kind I usually eat aren't staring at me!
Hmmm. I'm taking it that they were good since all that was left were the bones?
I love fish, but I can't eat anything that is staring at me!!! :)
You are braver than I am!
It looks like everyone was having a great time! I like fish but I don't know about whole fish.
And all this time I thought the only you could get sardines was in a little can. I never knew they came that big! Ha!
I'm in agreement with your other commenters that if there's eyes in the fish, I'm gone.
Something about cooking the fish with the heads attached creeps me out! I always worry that I'm going to eat some cooked eyeball. It doesn't stop me from eating (takes a lot to do that!) but it always gives me a shiver...
I'm glad that you had some good wine on hand, though. I find that to be a good strategy on the off chance something isn't tasty!
Okay, so it's pretty much unanimous.....don't eat anything with eyeballs.
Whew girl....you go!!!!!
I just am not sure I could have, even with the carafe empty!!
