I don't carry ads on my blog either. I have a link to my website, but that is it. I've seen blogs I enjoyed monetize and loose their charm. I feel this way I can write about a product or business good or bad from an honest point of view. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, I'm purging the chocolate today. Cathy
I'm not about $$, but honestly, if I could do it in a non intrusive way, I'd love to make money by writing my blog..........I think for me it's pie in the sky fantasy, because I write more for fun, and for me.
I suppose most bloggers do it for fun and out of curiosity, as I think, in terms of earning money it's peanuts.
Anyway, referring to the third comment, I think it's possible to choose the way the ads are displayed on the blog, so that they seem less intrusive. I might try it too in the future.
Hi Sandy, thanks for stopping by my blog. I don't mind a few ads if I can just steer to the stuff I'm interested in, but some blogs that I've landed on make it hard to find any actual content.... In that case, I definitely move on!
I orignally thought I wanted to but not anymore. I have been asked to do something from Up Printing but haven't yet. I have found that my best friends, the people I really like to follow do not have ads! I like that. I was all about BlogHer and have found that I am really annoyed with their ads and pop-ups. I am happy with just me. Why would I blog for money, doesn't seem right, it's not me.
Nope, you are not alone. The whole focus of the blog would change if I was interested in monetizing it. I started blogging for me and I'll continue for me, not to make money. I have to agree with the blogger who said that ads can detract from a blog. If I see a blog with too many ads or too many product reviews, I move on. I want to read witty, inspiring or thought provoking content, not commericials. OK, I'll step off my soap box now.
You can make money blogging??? I was doing it as an online journal of sorts. Unless I can make enough blogging to quit my real job I think I'll just keep doing it as a hobby.
I did it out of curiousity at first. I try and keep the ads to a minimum. The economy is so bad right now (my husband works in construction), and things are so tight money-wise I'll take every penny I can get, ha!
I don't have anything to do with blogs either...I just write because I enjoy it and it's not about money at all. Plus, my blog's not good enough to make money! ;)
I don't do ads because you can't really control them and I don't want some KY Jelly nonsense showing up on my blog. However, I would not turn down an offer of tuition money... LOL
The only ads I would ever put on are for products I have used and LOVE and would like to promote; however, you can do that on your own. So, no ads for me either! Stopping by from SITS.
You are right, ieverything is not about the money, but you would think so. I don't advertise on my blog either. It isn't neccessery. Coming to you by way of SITS. Thank you for letting me visit. Happy New Year..
I'm just not there either. A friend has the Blogher thing on her site. She earned $29 in six months. She gets lots of traffic. For that I don't see a reason to junk up my site.
Happy New Year to you, Sandy. Enjoy the Blue Moon.
I have no interest at all in monetizing my personal blog, I do it for the sheer love of blogging, but I do hope to begin making a bit of money from my photography etsy shop - that link to my own site is the only "advertising" I accept. In truth, I opened the shop because a number of people kept nagging me to, but now that it's open I find that I do really want it to succeed.
Never say never, or so they say, but I have no DESIRE to monetize my blog. It's my 'escape', my place of quiet refuge...it's MINE and it will stay that way. Pretty soon they'll be demanding copyrights!

No. I have the BlogHer ad thing on the side but I hope it doesn't bother people. It sure doesn't bring in much money, either!

Definitely not. I have no interest whatsoever about putting ads on my blog.
Nope! Just blogging for fun!
I don't either.
just blogging on my blog!
dropping by from SITS!
I'm not interested :)

It would always be nice to make extra money, but I like the freedom of only being responsible to me!
Good question!!
I don't give a shiz about monetizing. Mostly cuz I have no idea what that really means.
Yeah, I've seen the button and the word; still doesn't make sense to me.
(mostly it boils down to the fact that I don't need anymore distractions...)
No I think most blogs are not really monetizable in a substantial way.
nope. i am not interested either. although i do wonder if it actually provides any $$$ worth the distraction.
I worry that they'll look at my posts and give me ads that coincide with my material.
I don't want to feature diarrhea meds.
Or worse.
Swinging in from SITS....

You're definitely not the only one. I think it cheapens the look of a blog.

*anything to do with *ads*
I don't care to do that either Sandy. I think blogs lose their charm this way. :)

No me niether, I only blog for fun and to let off a little steam every now and again.
But if Prada were to sponsor my blog and supply free clothes I may be tempted :)
No ads here either!
But, if someone wanted to pay me for using a product that I already love... I might not turn that down! :)
Happy New Year!

AMEN!!!
I will never, ever have ads on my blog! I write because I love to. And if someone else wants to read my drivel, then SCORE!!!!
Of course, if someone wants to just give me money thru PayPal, I wouldn't refuse, lol!
