The Wonders of Nature

I was wandering around the yard today with my new camera looking for something interesting to shoot. I happened to notice these odd looking buds on the magnolia my mother-in-law gave me about 20 years ago. It's one of my most favorite plants in the yard and today it took on a whole new look for me. I've never noticed these before and was fascinated by what they look like.

A baby bird just hatched?

This looks like a bug.....

My all-out favorite.....

"I'm watching you!"

Ohmigosh! New camera, new eyes, huh? Really cool. And that flower/snake - I'm showing that to my youngest - that's the sort of thing she can write a story about...

Strangest thing I have ever seen.
Weird!

very bizarre. I have a magnolia and have never seen anything like this. And honeywine is not alone - I was thinking it must be my crazy mind, but one of those pix was a bit phallic looking.

Indeed strange, yet beautiful. If they open more, take more pics.

Great pictures! The "I'm Watching You" one is very interesting. I need to check out my magnolia tree. I don't think it has anything like this on it. Hmmm.

Creepy cool. Good pix. We remain in awe of Southern Illinois flora (coming from Northern Wisconsin) and Magnolia TREES are part of it.
Is that a Magnolia TREE?

Beautiful and creepy all at the same time. I need to pick your brain about your new camera. Katie is going to do photography for her senior project - it's something she's always been interested in. And I'm thinking about upgrading her camera for her. I may as well take advantage of all the research you just did.
