Please Pass The Peas

Does anybody remember spoon rings? I guess they're still around but I first remember them in the early 70's. My boyfriend used to make and sell them. He'd find an old fork or spoon at a yard sale or flea market, cut the utensil end off and polish it up real pretty.

He gave me several but one with delicate scroll work was my favorite. I probably still have it in a jewelry box somewhere. I loved it, wore it all the time back then.

Until one Sunday dinner at his grandmother's house when I reached across the table for the peas. The pattern on her silver serving spoon was the same as my ring.

Never wore it there again.

Poor Grandma is right! That was the least of the stunts he pulled on her. She went to use her vac one day and the cord was about 6' shorter than it used to be. He needed a piece of electrical cord and he found it.

Haha! You got lucky she didn't ask for it back, lol.

LOL! WAIT! Did she see it? You weren't cut from the will, were you?! Oh, dread!

Wait! Did he use her spoon? I thought it was just a coincidence until I read the comments. YIKES! I hope it wasn't the good silver!

Hi Sandy, I remember the rings but never actually had one myself. Thanks for visiting my blog from SITS. My name is Sandra too and I think, hold on, we look somewhat alike....depending on my haircolor at the time. :)
Nice to know you. Please come again.

oh, haha! Yep I had one back in the day, too. I purge the jewlery and clothes a lot unless for sentimental reasons so it's probably gone.....

That's really neat, the untimate recycling.

I've heard of spoon rings. I think I even have a spoon bracelet that my mom gave me. I'll have to find that.

Did Grandmother see the ring? Did things get icy and silent? How easy was it to slip off and drop in a pocket or purse!?
