If this photo looks familiar, it should. It's one of the three in my blog banner! And it also happens to be one of my favorites taken in South Africa a few years ago when Paul and I were there for two weeks on safari. This was actually the first in a short series of photos I shot of this giraffe. In this frame he sees me; and in the next, he bolts! As you might expect, they are amazingly beautiful and graceful animals. And big! There was a bull giraffe I saw a couple times when he came into a watering tank, and he stood 18' tall and was estimated to weigh 1500#. You can read a little about that trip in Adventures to South Africa. Now who to tag? As always if you don't want to participate - not to worry....just breathe deeply and let it go....

What are the odds that the 10th picture would be one from your banner? Especially since you probably have 100s of pictures from Africa. Anyway, it's a cool picture and cooler story. Glad you decided to play. I thought this one would appeal to you.
Pam, you know me too well. Now let's see if anyone I've tagged will 'play'
Sandy...thanks for the tag! It was a neat game to play. Although, I cheated a little on the tagging part.
I absolutely love the giraffe picture and am completely jealous. I love giraffes and have since I saw my first one at San Diego Zoo back when I was 10. It's a great photo!
I wondered where you got the pictures for your header. It's quite lovely.
Miss Lady Grey, thanks for playing along! When we arrived in South Africa the first animal I saw in the velt was a mother rhino and baby as they ran across in front of our lorry...I almost wet my pants I was so excited. The first giraffe I saw through binoculars from a very long distance but that was pretty exciting as well and they became my favorite. Despite having seen them in zoos, nothing compares to seeing all these animals in the wild.
Alex, now you know! I took all three photos and they are very special to me. Thanks!
I've seen this meme around, but I think this is the coolest photo yet.
It's lovely.
K, thanks!
Your site is very unique. It is elegant and very creative. I found my way here via the craziness of Housewife Savant.
Lori, thank you! Elegant and creative! That sounds lovely. Please stop back again.
Thank you SO MUCH for not tagging me - since I just went through this and randomly checking the pictures always scares the crap outta me coz ya just never know what you will come across! Hugs!
Your picture and story are amazing!
Tammy, thanks! I was pretty excited when that really was the 10th photo in my folder. Personally I never get tired of looking at our photos from Africa. A true trip of a lifetime.
