Sleeping is Such a Waste of Time

I haven't used an alarm clock in at least 15 years. Unless I am getting on an early plane. Then I set three clocks and still wake up every hour. I probably should just stay up.

It's not that I have any real trouble sleeping. But I usually wake up about 5:30 a.m. Then my brain starts to run, and I lay there thinking about things I could be doing, lots of things I'd like to be doing. Sometimes I'll stay there and try to go back to sleep but most of the time I get up. It's my favorite time of the day. If the weather is right, I'll sit on the deck with my coffee and the dogs. Or I'll read.

Even as a teenager I don't remember sleeping late. Lots of nights when I wake up, I'll turn on my light and read for a little while until I feel sleepy again. Those mornings when I let myself go back to sleep and then wake up after 7:00 a.m., my first thought is What a waste of time.

The alarm clock is mt greatest enemy. How dare it wake me up? LOL.
I like to sleep. I think sleeping is a wonderful process, beneficial to both mind and body.

There were times when I also used to think of it as "a waste of time". Well, it's not.

I really miss the days when I slept well.

My alarm clock is my constant daily companion. And I hate it. But as I'm constantly sleep deprived and have to wake up between 4:45 and 5 am, it's a necessary evil.

I wake up to the smell of coffee. God bless programmable coffee makers! We are early risers also. I like getting to work early so I can leave early. There is just too much I want to do that doesn't involve work.

7am? Wasting the day? I have to disagree. Of course, I've never been a happy early bird. However, this summer I'm up most days by 8 or 8:30 and sometimes earlier. I actually saw the sunrise the other morning. I liked it. Used to be I'd have to stay up all night to see it. Or else so tired getting up I didn't notice it.

Lately I haven't been sleeping well. I had a horrible time on our trip in Europe but it didn't stop me from doing things. I wake up early too and my mind gets going.
I definitely don't sleep well before a trip. When I set an alarm I always wake up before it goes off.
