We have had a very cold, windy, stormy winter. That these berries have held on in nearly 50 mph gusts amazes me. I have always loved this bush but I have never paid this much attention to it and its cycle. I really don’t know when or how it drops these last berries. Do they get pushed off by new growth? Do they finally just dry up and fall off? It is amazing that so many are still there after this winter.

Do you know - I was so excited about the first of the month that I told my husband and daughter about your project? They agreed that it was a pretty cool thing to do. I didn't expect much today. Stupid winter. But I have high hopes for next month!!!

Those berries are beautiful and I love it when the bush is blooming with the white flowers. I'm thinking a little sugar on top of those berries and they should be pretty tasty.
